Tutorial on "Cellular-Automata(CA) Models in Autonomous Robotics: Development and Trends"

This is a two-part tutorial.

Part I: "CA Concepts and Application Examples" (Wednesday at 1pm)

Part II: "CA Applied to Autonomous Robotics" (Thursday 8th August at 1pm, HWU, room to be confirmed)

Prof Oliveira is Head of the Bio-inspired Computation Lab (UFU). She works at the School of Computer Science, at the Federal University of Uberlandia (UFU), Brazil. Previously, she worked at Mackenzie Presbyterian University also in Brazil. She received her PhD in Computer Science from the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA-Brazil) in 1999. She spent a sabbatical year at the Robotics Lab at HWU (Edinburgh, UK) in 2013. Her main research interests are the joint application of cellular automata, evolutionary computation and other bio-inspired models in the solution of applied problems. She has written more than 100 scientific papers, presenting her research involving the application of bio-inspired solutions in computer science and engineering problems. Prof Oliveira was the General chair of the Brazilian Conference on Intelligent Systems (BRACIS-2017), which is the leading event in the fields of Artificial and Computational Intelligence in Brazil. She has been a "Research Productivity Fellow" from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in Brazil for 17 years.
