Gateway Event - Robotics: Utilities and Beyond

This event hosted by IGEM Scottish Section and IET Scotland South East Network will look at robotics development, exploring academic research through to practical applications in the utilities sector.

The event will feature speakers at the forefront of robotics advancement, including:

  • Edinburgh Centre for Robotics
  • Synthotech
  • ULC Robotics

Edinburgh Centre for Robotics is leading in the UK effort to realise its industrial potential in the robotics revolution, by producing a new generation of highly skilled researchers, trained to take a central role through technical skill coupled to industry and market awareness. João Moura and Wolfgang Merkt, CDT students from the Centre, will present two recent projects with significant industrial relevance.

Synthotech are a leading British engineering business, focused on leading the way in providing innovative engineering solutions to the gas industry. Their Tier One Replacement Service (TORS) is a major development in gas mains replacement.

ULC Robotics is revolutionising the way utility and industrial companies inspect and maintain their infrastructure through the research, development and deployment of robotic systems, inspection systems and UAVs.
