Distinguished Lecture welcomes Professor David Lane

Heriot-Watt University Dubai welcomed Professor David Lane to the annual Vice-Chancellor Distinguished Lecture.  The prestigious Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Lectures invite global leaders of industry, business and academia to share their knowledge and vision with students, colleagues and guests.

Professor Lane FREng FRSE CBE, Founding Director of the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, discussed some of the exciting advances underway in research and innovation, as well as recent successes in commercialisation and international challenge competitions.

A number of high profile guests attended the lecture including the British Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Philip Parham. 

Afterwards, Professor Ammar Kaka Provost and Vice-Principal at Heriot-Watt’s Dubai Campus, said: “As a university, we are constantly looking for new and engaging ways to give our students access to experts in industry to complement our classroom teaching. The Distinguished Lecture series is just one way we do this. I’m delighted so many attended this event and received a valuable insight from one of the leaders in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics.”
